So where to begin? Well I guess the beginning is the best place to begin, so I will begin there.
My name is Adam Messer, and I am an author and publisher of Valhalla Books. I grew up reading and I love storytelling.
Growing up poor meant we didn’t have a lot of money for non-essentials like books, but thankfully we were only a couple of blocks from our public library. I read fantasy books and science fiction, as well as mysteries and westerns.
Comic books became an obsession for me, and I still love reading comics.
As an adult, I rarely read any of the fantastical books I did growing up. I had moved on to non-fiction topics like business, leadership, self development, and biographies of successful people. I am a lifelong learner and reading is part of who I am.
Nowadays I enjoy a mixture of different genres, with one demand of the book- a good story.
When I started writing for the Savannah Morning News, interviewing hundreds of people about events, music, books and more, I always focused the article on the person first and the topic as secondary. Sure the event information was important, but story was always about the people.
This lead to me interviewing the station manager of WRUU 107.9 FM about an upcoming event. One of the last things he said was if anyone wanted to pitch a show idea, they were looking for volunteer hosts. And I did, and guess what? I did and had a radio show interviewing authors, artists and entertainers. We had a lot of fun casually discussing creative work.
So why Action Pulp? Why now?
The short answer is I love doing interviews with people. I want the Action Pulp interviews to tell people’s creative story of the person behind the story.
And as to why now?
There is no better time than the present!
