The other day I woke up, as I often do having had a dream I wanted to scribble a note about. This was the note.

Later that morning I saw this post online and I had to laugh.

Dreams make no sense at all at times and at other times can make everything click into place.
Later that day my friend Josh and I were talking about our current writing projects, and I shared this with him.
The next day my friend Bobby posted the same meme.
I think dreams and ideas are worth writing down, even if they don’t make sense and even if I don’t remember a lick of the dream afterwards. Ideas come from a lot of places, and nowhere at all.
As a writer, I’ve had a lot of folks offer me a story idea that they had, who have said “you ought to write that, we’ll split it 50/50.” While I appreciate the sentiment, I always politely decline and encourage them to write their story.

I also keep various notebooks for ideas, story snippets, drawings, etc as a way to see what may come from the idea. It helps me to flesh out the story, or character, or a scene. Sometimes it leads to a dead end.
Sometimes it is just that, an idea.
And that is ok. – Adam
