John Leister credits God in his life to take a leap of faith for his writing journey.

Please introduce yourself.

I’m a self-published author.
If you go to Kobo and enter John Leister, you can check out my books.
If you go to YouTube and enter John Leister Author, you can check out some of the podcasts I’ve appeared on.
I co-host a podcast called The Canadian Bro Show with Paul Bale.

What genres do you write and why?

I write crime fiction.  I like stories that have clearly defined heroes and villains.

What is your earliest memory of reading?

My earliest memory of reading is TV Guide.  I read it back to front!

When did you know you wanted to write? How did it happen?

I always wanted to write, but I lacked self-confidence.  That changed in 2019 after I took a leap of faith.  Having God in my life is what motivates me to manifest my visions.

What’s one of your favorite scenes in one of your books?

In one my Lee Hacklyn books, Lee is castigated by a cop for disturbing a crime scene.

Lee excuses himself to a men’s room and cries.  He’s tough, but sensitive.

What makes a good character? A bad one?

What makes a character good is a well-defined personality.  I learned this from Stan Lee.

A bad character leaves no impact on the reader.

What moves the story for you?

What moves a story is good pacing, character and plot development.

What is your favorite book and why?

My favorite book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

What do you want to say to your audience?

The support I’ve received has been so gracious and generous! It means the world to me that readers have reached out to me directly, or left reviews, and are as excited as I am about these stories.

What advice do you have for new writers?

My advice to fledgling writers?   Just write for your own happiness.

Never mind what others think.

Never mind if it never makes you money.

Do it because to not do it would be a sin if it’s your truest desire.

Cheers!
